My Top Five Role-Playing Games

Role playing games generally dive you into an entire new world full of odd technology and creatures usually. The world seems nothing like that of our own, but we put ourselves in the main characters position all the time. These games have been popular for a long time now and there are many spectacular ones out there, but here are my top five.

  1. Pokemon (Red and Blue)

Like many others I dove into the Pokemon games during my youth. I only got as far as Red and Blue versions, but that was enough to make them a top five game. A world with little creatures as our pets, friends, and in some cases almost slaves. The game took you into a world much like one of our own technology wise and added these creatures with great fighting abilities to challenge each other. The goal was to be the best trainer out there and catch all the 150 different types. The adventure is long and there are many enemies and friends you will meet on the way.

  1. Legend of Legia

Not many people have probably played this one. It was a PlayStation game which you took control of three characters who are warriors trying to save their planet. There is a mist covering the area and turning up monsters that attack everyone. The storyline gets deeper than that, but I will let you figure the rest out. Your goal is to stop the evil that is causing it. The fighting is the best part in this game. They used a very unique fighting style in which you control every punch, kick, and special that gets used.

  1. Final Fantasy X

The Final Fantasy games are all great and this one stands out for me as being one of their best. The storyline is a bit confusing as your character is thrown into an entire new world than that which you open the game in. The graphics are really great considering it is a PlayStation 2 game. The goal is to stop the evil monster known as Sin from wiping out the world. Again there are many twists and turns along the way in this one and it is great adventure story.

  1. The Legend of Zelda

Some consider this an RPG, but I was trying to stick with games that you level up your characters. This game is worthy of any list though, and to prevent any debate I will put it on here as an RPG. Most people have probably played this one already, but if not here it is. You are Link and you are trying to save Zelda from the evil Gannon. The classical good versus evil princess stealer. You go around fighting in castles, taking on bosses, and searching for new items to help you out.

  1. Final Fantasy VII

By far the best RPG ever made hands down. It has already taken my number one spot for top games ever made so it only makes sense to call it the best RPG ever made. The story goes something like this. There is a group of people known as Avalanche that are trying to stop a huge corporation known as Shinra from operation. Shinra as sucking life out of the planet in the form of Mako to use as power. A new and much greater threat soon arrives when a man known as Sephiroth shows up and kills the president of Shinra. It turns out Sephiroth wanted more than just to kill the president, he wants to end the entire planet’s existence. The storyline is a bit fuzzy by my description, but if you play the game you will be able to follow it pretty smoothly. The story is by far the best of any RPG ever made and it will keep you playing all day long.
